EnerGuide for Houses Report

Energy Rating System (ERS)

Each energy efficiency pre-retrofit evaluation report includes the following:

The home’s current energy performance rating and the estimated energy performance rating that could be achieved by undertaking the recommended upgrades/improvements.

  • The home’s estimated annual energy consumption and annual energy costs, as well as an estimate of the impact the recommended upgrades/improvements would have on total energy consumption and costs.
  • A breakdown of the estimated portion of energy used for space heating, domestic water heating, lighting and appliances, and the potential energy savings that could be achieved by implementing all of the recommended upgrades/improvements.
  • Estimates of the energy lost through air leakage, mechanical ventilation, the basement, windows and doors, exposed floors, main walls and ceilings before and after the recommended improvements (this information will indicate the areas of the house with the highest potential for energy savings) .

The Sun Ridge Energy Advisor summarizes the recommended energy efficiency upgrades/improvements identified during the analysis and includes these recommendations in the energy efficiency report. The upgrades/improvements are based on the principle of the house as a system, recognizing that changes made to one part of a house can have effects in other parts of the house.

The homeowner must be informed of any major structural defect, moisture problem or insufficient ventilation concern that is noted during the energy evaluation.
