How do I get started?
Step 1: Book a pre-retrofit evaluation with Sun Ridge
A Sun Ridge Energy Advisor will come to your house and complete the pre-retrofit “D” evaluation.
The pre-retrofit “D” evaluation establishes the baseline point for your home. It is very important that the “D” evaluation is completed before starting any renovations. Retrofit improvements prior to the “D” evaluation are not eligible for grants.
**SaskEnergy requires a pre-retrofit “D” evaluation for all homes participating in the current Saskatchewan EnerGuide for Houses program. Under certain circumstances, homes evaluated in previous ecoENERGY/EnerGuide programs may be eligible for an electronic file update rather than another full in-home evaluation. Sun Ridge customer service representatives will be pleased to assist you and provide further information.

Step 2: Review your home’s energy rating report and choose your eligible retrofits
You will receive a report with recommended upgrades which will save you the most energy and money. Review the grants available for each recommended improvement and decide what upgrades you wish to make.
Step 3: Complete your retrofits (and keep all receipts)
Complete your desired home energy upgrades. Be aware of the deadlines that apply for the provincial and Federal programs.
Participants in the federal ecoENERGY-Retrofit program must provide receipts to their Sun Ridge energy advisor at the time of the post-retrofit “E” evaluation. These receipts must confirm that products and equipment were purchased and installed between June 6, 2011 and March 31, 2012.
The work can by done by licensed contractors, or in some cases you can Do-It-Yourself. For more information on DIY upgrades see our DIY Toolbox.
Step 4: Book a post-retrofit evaluation with Sun Ridge
Once all of your retrofits are completed, book an appointment with Sun Ridge for your post-retrofit “E” evaluation. For Federal grant eligibility, the post-retrofit “E” evaluation must be completed by March 31, 2012.
Step 5: Receive your grants
After your post-retrofit “E” evaluation is completed, Sun Ridge will submit your file to Natural Resources Canada to calculate your grant amounts. Within approximately 90 days from your post-retrofit evaluation, you will receive one cheque from NRCan (Federal ecoENERGY grant) and one cheque from SaskEnergy (EnerGuide for Houses grant). SaskEnergy administers the program on behalf of the Provincial Government of Saskatchewan.
